General information

The south coast guided trip offers an expert-led adventure along Iceland’s south coast, providing visitors with an opportunity to discover the natural beauty of the area, including glaciers, black sand beaches, waterfalls, and geological formations, as well as learning about the culture, history and local legends of the region.

Welcome to our south coast private tour, where we’ll take you on an unforgettable adventure through some of Iceland’s most scenic and iconic landmarks.

We’ll start our journey by stopping at the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall, known for its picturesque cascading falls and unique cave behind the water. You’ll have the opportunity to take a walk behind the waterfall and feel the mist of the falls as it crashes down.

Next, we’ll make our way to the Skogafoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most beautiful and photographed waterfalls. You’ll have the opportunity to walk to the top of the falls and witness the stunning views from above.

After a brief stop at Skogafoss, we’ll continue our journey to the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. Here you’ll see the striking basalt columns and Reynisdrangar sea stacks as well as the roaring waves of the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll have time to take a stroll on the beach and explore the area’s rich history and geology.

Finally, we’ll reach our main destination, the Sölheimajökull glacier.

Our expert guide will lead you on a private hike to the face of the glacier, where you’ll experience the incredible beauty of the ice and learn about its formation and history.

Overall, this south coast private tour will leave you with a sense of awe and wonder, as you witness some of Iceland’s most stunning natural wonders.

He took pictures of us throughout the trip and sent them the next day. Having a private guide enabled us to go off the traditional paths to find unique adventures. 					  Can't recommend enough - TL;DR: BOOK THEM!!

If you’re planning a trip to Iceland, I have two bits of advice: book a private tour, and book Arctic Exped for that tour.

Planning... read more a trip to Iceland can be overwhelming—at least for us. Every place we wanted to visit seemed to have an 18-letter name that was impossible to pronounce. We found Julian and spoke with him about what we wanted to see and the overall vibe of the trip we were looking for.

He worked with us on the itinerary we had planned and made thoughtful recommendations on what we were missing or what could be swapped for even better options. He also included several off-the-beaten-path stops, which ended up being some of the most memorable moments of our entire trip. That’s the kind of experience you simply can’t get any other way.

Julian is cool, funny, knowledgeable, and extremely experienced, which allowed us to feel completely safe and at ease—whether we were out on outdoor excursions or spending long hours driving across the country.

As if the trip itself wasn’t incredible enough, we also ended up with gorgeous photos.

I can’t speak highly enough about our experience, and I can’t recommend Julian and Arctic Exped enough.
